Enjoy Galveston Before or After Your Cruise

Only a few hours to spare,

If Victorian-style homes speak to you, stroll through the stress on East End Historical District, and see all the homes and their beautiful gardens. Time warp and travel back in time by visiting the 1892 Bishop's Palace and the 1895 Moody Mansion. If nature is something you love, Galveston has Tree Sculptures cared from Oak tree ruins from Hurricane Ike in 2008; turning the ugly aftermath into something beautiful.

As the hours get closer to check-in time, head over to historic downtown Galveston to check out various shops, restaurants, museums, and more. You can feel like a pirate or gnaw on some sweets from La King's Confectionery with freshly made saltwater taffy and ice cream. If you are more into art and antique shops, stroll over to Post Office Street.

If you would rather just stay within walking distance of the terminal, head over to Pier 21. You can go on a Jet Boat Thrill Ride for intense speeds and whisk the breeze of the ocean. You can tour the 1877 Tall Ship ELISSA, deemed one of America's treasures by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Pier 21 also offers a beautiful view of the ocean while you enjoy lunch at Olympia Grill, Fisherman's Wharf, and Riondo's Ristorante.

A Full Day to Explore

If you have an entire day to enjoy Galveston Island, it's your oyster to enjoy. From enjoying the rays on the beach to everything listed above, you can also enjoy Moody Gardens, which has attractions for everyone from the Aquarium Pyramid, the Rainforest Pyramid, and a 4d theater. Younger kids can also enjoy the ropes course, zip line, and palm beach.

If you would rather be outside than spend any time indoors, instead of Moody Gardens, head over and enjoy Galveston Schlitterbahn and get you to fill with water rides excitement. Whether you enjoy the beach first then the attractions or you do things in reverse, once your done, go inside to rehydrate and enjoy good island food with a view.Whether enjoying lunch or dinner the fun doesn't stop after meal time, you can also go enjoy Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier amusement park. The pier is about 1,130 feet long and has games, 16 rides spanning from gentle to more extreme for the adventurous thrill-seeker.

Your extra day can be jam-packed with fun to entertain the family or it can be as casual and relaxing as you desire. If you have more time than just one single day, then you can have one day be for the waterpark and the next a break from the heat inside Moody Gardens. Vacation is all about enjoying the time the way you want, and Galveston has everything you may want and even some hidden gems you didn't think you would enjoy.
